Having difficult conversations – for coaches and support staff in sport
Developing skills for coaches to enable them to negotiate difficult conversations in Sport is critical to fostering healthy team dynamics and achieving success.
Effective communication can prevent conflict, improve player performance, and promote positive relationships between team members and staff. Coaches who can navigate challenging conversations with empathy and confidence can lead their teams to great success. Delivered actively inside the classroom with visual aids as a guide/reference point. Key components of the session will include, the theory around what makes some conversations challenging, the art of active listening, extending your own “Questioning Toolkit”, empathy and how to demonstrate it and building rapport and strong foundations.
The tone and questions posed to the group will be age/status appropriate. Active exercises are used as a catalyst to promote conversation and connections. Statistics may be included to solidify specific points and raise awareness and small group discussions will be included to enrich learning by shared experience.
